    The NDA is proud to have passed the Modernization of Dentistry Bill (AB 147) which gives access to oral health care to Nevadans no matter where they live in the state.     NDA Passes DLR Bill to Support Dentists and Patients

    NDA championed SB 393, Patients Before Profits bill that ensures dental insurance premiums are spent wisely on oral health, not on insurance administrative costs or marketing campaigns. Nevada leads the way with the most comprehensive Dental Loss Ratio (DLR) statute in the country and we're proud to pass such transparent insurance legislation. Minimum of 75% of insurance premiums must be spent on patient care Maximum of 25% of insurance premiums can be spent on administration and marketing Insurance Companies must file annual reports to the Dept of Insurance Dept. of Insurance can audit insurance report as needed Transparency for the public Nevadans get the care they need deserve for the insurance premiums they pay.

    100 NDA member dentists volunteering for the Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program

    NDA had reached over 100 member dentists volunteering for the Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program. The Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program recruits Nevada dentists and specialists in local communities to provide services to veterans in-need free-of-charge. Since 2010, Adopt-A-Vet Dental Program’s volunteer dentists have provided dental care to more than 1,500 veterans totaling more than eight-million dollars in donated treatment.

    DEA & Medication Access and Training Expansion Act (or MATE Act).

    On April 10th, we were informed by the ADA that an updated FAQ has been posted. Please take a moment to review all the posted questions and answers. It is important content. Remember again, this one-time 8-hour training requirement only applies to those who prescribe from Schedules II, III, IV, and V. So, if this applies to you, please read on. While the FAQ has a lot of content, please know that the ADA is still in direct communication with the DEA to seek additional clarification. We will send out updates as soon as we receive them .If you have questions not listed in the FAQs, please send them to msc@ada.org or to the NDA and we will work on seeking answers.

    February is National Children’s Dental Health Month

    NEVADA (Nevada Business) — During February, the Nevada Dental Association (NDA) celebrates National Children’s Dental Health Month, a month-long effort to educate and remind Nevada’s children and their parents or guardians of the benefits of maintaining good oral health. “Oral health is incredibly important and with proper care, a balanced diet and regular dental visits, children’s teeth can remain healthy and strong,” said Dr. Jason Doucette, president of the Nevada Dental Association. “On behalf of our member dentists of the Nevada Dental Association, we emphasize the importance of brushing, flossing and other healthy habits so that the children grow up to become healthy adults.”

    Dr. McGinley Talks About Good Overall Health Starts in the Mouth

    Reno, NV (Public News Service) February is National Children's Dental Health Month and one Nevada Pediatric Dentist wants families to remember that good overall health starts in the mouth. Dr. Kellie McGinley, a dentist at Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, said cavities are a leading chronic disease in children, which can be prevented by establishing good dental hygiene. She recommends parents take their kids to the dentist at the age of one to prevent cavities and to get into the habit of visiting the dentist at least twice a year.
